Problems with FireFox 3.0 : 1> Cannot print all websites - it truncates long sites. 2> "Open All in Tabs" now overwrites the rightmost tab regardless of about:config setting 3> Window to update add-ons has SKIP where CONTINUE used to be, now the CONTINUE button is to the far left. Insane to change basic stuff like that for no reason. Especially when the new function in the old location does the OPPOSITE. 4> ? - I'm sure I'll think of something. Not happy so far, too many unneeded changes for too little improvement. Friday, June 27, 2008
World of Warcraft Maps : Like Google Map - but for WoW. I don't play, and I still find this fascinating. :) Thursday, June 26, 2008

Well, Greg is being released today, he would be getting home about the time I got to the hospital, so I can't see him today. Perhaps later on. He seemed to be in good spirits and feeling more himself, glad to be getting out of the hospital. Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Greg says he is doing well, I am going down there to see him tomorrow - unless they release him before I can get there. I'll call him early in the AM to make sure he'll be there. :) We have both dogs now - Maggie and Toby, together again! They seem to be happy with each other, just a bit of argument over who is boss every now and then, but nothing serious. I'm visiting the vet tomorrow to pick up some meds for Maggie, and I'll check to see if Toby can be moved to my account. Next? Grooming. Tonight is the public HOA meeting - and since I had an interesting argument with a very hard-headed woman over parking, it should be interesting. If she bothers to show up. I have noticed that the most outspoken absolutely RIGHT people are the ones least likely to bother. Firefox 3 is out. Whee. I am using it at work, and it seems OK. Nothing huge. I refuse to put it on my laptop until they correct one HUGE bug that has apparently been there since the earliest betas : You cannot print certain websites. Any site with over 1 vertical page of content gets chopped off when you print it, and resizing doesn't help. I take PDF snapshots of several sites I frequent, and this is impossible when you only get the top part of the page. It doesn't matter if you print to PDF or printer, same issue. Some have said it is in the way FF3 truncates sites that use scripting or asp, but I say that it worked in 2.0.14, so why did they break it in 3.0? Friday, June 20, 2008

I spoke with Greg yesterday, he seems to be in good spirits, but a lot of pain. They took the healthy skin on his thighs and used it in grafts for the lower legs and arms, so he's pretty much chewed up right now. Dell UltraSharp 2709W 27-inch WideScreen Black Flat Panel Monitor Ooooh! Ahhhh! I would love to have one of these. Perhaps when the price comes down by 3/4. :) Wednesday, June 18, 2008
I got news Sunday when I called Dad that my brother (Greg) was in the UVA Intensive Care Burn Ward - about 8:30 pm Sat night he was burning brush and had poured gas on it, when he went to light the gas, the fumes detonated and flash-burned him pretty bad. Both arms and legs, hands too. Not his face so much, and his chest and thighs were OK as he was wearing shorts and a shirt. He is expected to be fine. I just heard from Patty (my ex), she had a baby girl! She needs to relocate Toby as he is not likely to be good around a baby, he is a bit snippish sometimes. We'll take him and Maggie and Toby will be together again. Patty is really upset by the whole thing, but I think Maggie's looking forward to having Toby around. It will make trips and such more difficult, but we will deal with it. We did it before, we can do it again! I'm trying to vacuum the floor and the damn cleaner just overheated and shut off. *grumble* Perhaps I'll play some City of Heroes while I wait for it to recover... edit: After unplugging it for the better part of 3 hrs, it worked again. Darn. Had to finish the floors. Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Get Started With Chickenfoot - Webmonkey Looks nice - I'm using the Stylish add-on to Firefox to tinker with custom CSS for websites, but it is very limited, in that it can only change CSS where you know the variables, etc - or don't mind stepping on them. Thursday, June 05, 2008
Important - new virus that will encrypt your files and blackmail you for the decryption key. A little vunerable 'flash from the past' ala MS-XP-SP3 : It appears that XP service pack 3 installs an older vulnerable version of the flash player. Causing those systems to be vulnerable to these vulnerabilities. So if you have installed SP3 on XP, you need to get the latest version of the flash player from adobe and install it immediately to patch up to the non-vulnerable version. |
