Google Reader and Twitter RSS Feeds

If you have been blindsided by Twitter's sudden killing of RSS feeds for it's users, then you are likely looking for a way to put twitter feeds into Google Reader again. I tried many many ways as suggested by many sites, but this is the only one that worked for me.

In the url field in your browser (I used Firefox, not sure if the others are the same) put:

http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=MikeM_MD

it's just an example, put whoever's twitter name you want to get into your reader feed in place of MikeM_MD

Then you should have an option at the top of the screen to add the feed to a reader, pick google and then click "add to Google Reader" when you are given the option, and it just... worked.

I don't know how LONG this will continue to work, good luck.

EDIT 2/11/2012 : The above method doesn't work anymore BUT now this easier method works:

From Google Reader, click "Subscribe" and put the twitter name of the person you want to follow into the search/url box.  Then select the twitter feed and add subscription! Worked just now for JeriLRyan
