For those of you who were wondering - I'm sure it must have been a burning question in your mind - I voted a straight Democratic ticket Tuesday. Shocked? I tend to think along the lines of a vigilante Judge Dredd sometimes, but overall I think the Libertarians have it right. I think the Govt should back out of our lives and that less government is better. I don't believe that everyone should be able to vote. Voting is NOT a RIGHT. It is a privilege, and it is often used thoughtlessly and carelessly.
Bob said some things that at first are shocking, but after you think on them for a while they make more sense than most people would be willing to admit in public. Some things you just can't say around other people without running the risk of butting up against the hard-formed opinions of Those Who Are Always Right. :) Politically-Correct people amuse me.
So then, if I am beginning to consider myself a Libertarian, why did I vote Democratic? Because I knew Kerry was the lesser of two evils, and I would prefer to have my vote count against Bush rather than go into the trash. Unfortunately, unless the Libertarians get their act together and field a candidate who can actually compete with the D/R monopoly, it would take a coordinated assault to get enough people to 'throw away their vote' on the Libertarian candidate to upset the Dem/Rep voting block.
Maybe next time.
This time, however, Bush won - and now we have a fully Republican congress even more to the right than last time. Pretty much anything the Republican Overlords desire will be passed into law with little or no real opposition, so our personal and property rights will continue the downwards slide.
Oh well, we'll just have to hope for the best and plan for the worst.
