The Wikipedia has a great writeup about the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. Lots of information about the physical results of the earthquake. The fault that slipped was over 740 miles long and shifted 50 feet, causing tsunamis up to 45' high in some places. This resulted in a mass shift in the earth that made the day 3 milliseconds shorter than before, and caused a wobble of about an inch in the rotation of the earth. Incredible power, but no real lasting effect.

Unless this triggers yet another earthquake somewhere else.
